It’s not a meteor for dummies

There is a place in Arizona that is called “Meteor Crater”.

The name infers that it was created by a meteor hitting the Earth.

Looking at maps though we see various formations just like this one though smaller.

In looking at Hawaii’s recent volcanic eruptions of molten lava we also see something similar, where the earth around the opening is caving in making it a bigger crater.

Imagine that, a crated developed by erosion.

No meteor to see here.

Feature image of Hawaii crater appears to be by USGS and is public property. Video seen here.
